RE: Undelivered
Packages
Although it is uncommon, sporadically a resident of the
Lauren does not receive a package which they were
expecting. Fortunately this happens infrequently, as
evidenced by the fact with over 5,000 packages delivered
annually fewer than a dozen unresolved reports of missing
items exist. We would like this 99.8% success rate to
become a perfect 100%.
We would ask that all residents complete an undelivered
package form which is now available at the front
desk, whenever they have need to. This form will ask for
a number of items such as:
1. From whom (person or
company) and where the package was sent from?
2. Approximate date of
shipping?
3. What carrier was used in
sending the package (United States Post Office, UPS,
FEDEX, etc.)?
4. Was it sent in a traceable
manner, and if so what method (Insured, Certified,
Priority Mail Proof of Delivery)?
5. Approximate size/weight of
package?
6. Has it been reported to
the sender and carrier as being undelivered? If so
have they put a trace on the item? Has the trace
yielded any results?
We will notify individuals such
as the local postmaster when a undelivered package
form is filed, and will also assist them in their efforts
to find the missing item.
We also request that all residents exercise some
preventative measures when having packages sent to them.
These would include, but are not limited to:
1. Being sure the sender uses
correct mailing information such as proper spelling
of name, apartment number, and zip code.
2. Sending the package in a
traceable manner, especially if it of value. This
means getting a signature when it is delivered. This
is better than the scanning done with Priority Mail
Proof of Delivery.
3. Considering having the
package delivered directly to you. Many delivery
services will go directly to a unit if so requested (and
you expect to be home) or perhaps considering having
it sent to your workplace.
4. If you are going to be
away for an extended period make arrangements to have
someone deliver your packages to your unit. Likewise,
consider having the Post Office hold delivery while
you are away.
5. Making sure to sign the
package log that is at the front desk.
Finally, if you receive an item
that is not yours please return it to the front desk for
proper forwarding, whether to another Lauren resident or
a neighboring address.
THANK YOU!
