Emergency Parking Restrictions Begin Monday, June 6

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) today announced the first phase of emergency measures to mitigate the impact of SafeTrack will begin Monday, June 6.

DDOT will extend morning and evening rush hours by 30 minutes Monday through Friday on certain bus priority corridors. On these corridors, morning rush will begin at 7 am and continue until 10 am. The evening rush will run from 4 pm until 7 pm. To accommodate the extended rush hours, emergency parking restrictions will also be extended and enforced.

DDOT will begin extended rush hours along the corridors that connect the Key Bridge to the Central Business District, including M Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington Circle, H and I Streets, as well as adjacent roadways that are connected to the corridor.

Temporary signs will be posted to notify motorists of the emergency parking restrictions. DDOT will implement similar measures for each phase of repairs being conducted by WMATA over the next year.

These emergency measures are part of a plan announced Thursday by Mayor Muriel Bowser, designed to support traffic flow as WMATA begins the yearlong series of repairs on the Metrorail system.

DDOT encourages commuters to consider other transit options or carpooling during the SafeTrack repair work.
