Summer is drawing to a close, so it must be fair season. Beginning next week, you can head north to check out the Maryland State Fair. It runs from August 27 to September 6. Big-name concerts from Gretchen Wilson and Justin Bieber are on tap, as well as fair standards such as bull riding and racing pigs. Among the quirkier attractions is a jousting tournament on September 4. Admission to the fair is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $3 for children 6 to 11 and free for children 6 and under. Separate tickets are required for the Wilson, Bieber and Bret Michaels concerts. The Maryland State Fairgrounds are located about 50 miles north of Washington in Timonium.
