"Our" Shenandoah
National Park
in Northern Virginia is a 2-hour
drive from The Lauren.
Skyland
Resort, at the park's high point, is almost always 15 degrees
cooler than downtown DC. This makes it doubly attractive to many
Laurentians in August.
Remember when driving was fun? A slow ride
down the 105 mile Skyline
Drive, which runs along the crest of the Shenandoah
Mountains, is an experience from a gentler time. Bicycling
is popular. |

Stay for the weekend at Big
Meadows or the Skyland
Resort. Hike easy trails like Old Stony Man and the ever-popular
Dark Hollow Falls Trail. If you want to push yourself, try Old
Rag Mountain. Or, for a quiet walk, stroll the lovely 1.2 mile
ADA-accessible Limberlost Trail. Shenandoah has more than 500 miles of
trails, including 101 miles of the Appalachian
Trail.
