Do
you like to bike? Do you love to design? Well, then we have the perfect
contest for you.
The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District is looking for people to design creative bike racks to be placed throughout Washington. The first artist-designed bike rack was placed at the Dupont Circle south Metro entrance back in May 2009. The 13-foot-long blue and green design spells out “bike here,” and can accommodate more than 10 locked bikes. Now, the organization wants to have more scattered throughout the city. “We are seeking to expand on that success,” said Leona Agouridis, executive director of the Golden Triangle. “By installing more new bicycle rack designs in the neighborhood, we’re adding artistic dimension to the community in a practical way.” Selected designs will receive a $1,500 honorarium, plus a free night’s stay at The Hay Adams hotel. The winning design will then be built and placed at one or more spots around the city. For more information, visit www.goldentriangledc.com. The deadline to submit entries is 5 p.m. on March 4. |
