The
D.C. Council's Public Works and Transportation Committee on Tuesday voted
to approve a plan to expand Circulator service to connect Rosslyn and
Dupont Circle. But a proposal from At-large D.C. Council member Kwame
Brown to extend the Circulator bus route along Pennsylvania Avenue SE to
Southern Avenue SE was rejected by the committee.
The Rosslyn service plan will now move to the full Council for consideration. For his part, Brown says he's not giving up on sending a Circulator east of the Anacostia River. "I’m committed to fighting for the first Circulator bus east of the river because it’s a matter of fairness to the residents who want reliable access to amenities downtown," said Brown in a statement. "I could not in good conscious vote to extend the Circulator service into Virginia while there are District residents who are still waiting for service." |
