Ticketing and Towing will be Enforced in Residential NeighborhoodsToday begins the week long Legg Mason Tennis Classic presented by GEICO, the annual ATP World Tour 500 men's professional tennis tournament being held at the Carter Barron Center in northwest DC. Visitors and attendees to the tournament are being advised of significant parking restrictions from August 1 - August 9 in the surrounding residential neighborhoods. Parking will be limited to the stadium grounds and is being coordinated by the National Park Service.
The DC Department of Public Work's Towing Branch will be deployed as a deterrent for illegal parking but will tow for all public safety violations and any vehicle not displaying a resident permit issued by the Metropolitan Police Department for this event. Vehicles will be relocated to Roosevelt High School’s parking lot, on the Iowa Avenue side of the school. There will be no fees associated with the towing. Parking officers will patrol the designated areas and issue parking citations for public safety violations and failure to display the residential permit issued by the Metropolitan Police Department for this event. National Park Service staff is providing traffic control near the stadium with support from MPD and DDOT Traffic Control Officers (TCOs). Variable Message Signs (VMS) have been strategically placed to provide advanced notification to motorists and event attendees.
