About the Instructor
Carina Losano has studied ballet in the USA (at the Maryland Youth Ballet) and in Argentina (at the Alfredo Gurquel’s studio and with Estela Erman). She has assisted the Masters of the Show "Tango Argentino" Juan Carlos Copes, Eduardo Arquimbau, Gloria and Rodolfo Dinzels and Carlos Rivarola (choreographer of the movie "Tango" with J.C.Copes) and has studied with tango dancers Gustavo Naveira, Fabian Salas and Graciela Gonzales, among others. Her accomplishments include teaching Madonna for her role in "Evita", and designing dances for the movie with the choreographer Vincent Paterson (Michael Jackson’s Bad Tour and Madonna’s Blond Ambition Tour). Carina has also co-choreograph, the last "Pepsi" commercial starring "Shakira," with Vincent Paterson. This commercial was directed by Joe Pytka, and was "viewed on air" for the first time at the night of the Oscars, in March of 2003. In the Washington DC area, she performed at the Kennedy Center and the Wolf Trap with Quintango. Carina had received awards and mentions like "Golden Obelisk", "Teacher of Milongueros", "Young Generation of Milongueros" and "Dedication to Tango", awarded by Juan Carlos Copes. She had also represented "Solo Tango" -a TV channel from Buenos Aires only dedicated to the promotion of Tango- in the International Exposition of the Cable TV Industry for three consecutive years, and has obtained the first prize in the Championship Hugo del Carril in 1997. For a complete understanding of tango culture, Carina studied History, Poetry and Sociology of Tango at the Tango University, with the most important researchers and journalist of Tango like Jose Gobello, Héctor Negro, Oscar del Priore and Roberto Selles.
