The Washington DC landmark will host the party with entertainment help from acclaimed local area German singers and dancers The Heurich House, a DC landmark on the National Registrar for Historic Places, will host their holiday parties on Friday, December 15 from 6-8PM this year. The event is open to the public and a $10 donation ($5 for students and seniors, children under 12 welcomed free) is asked. The Washington Saengerbund and the Alpine Singers and Alpine Dancers will provide entertainment for the event, performing traditional German routines and holiday carols. “We are so thrilled to have the Saengerbund and the Alpine groups perform at the House. They’ve been entertaining at our holiday events for years and we couldn’t be happier to have them back,” said Rebecca Palmer, who organized the event. She added, “And this year, we’ll have a wonderful Saint Nick in costume to explain traditional German Christmas.” In addition to the entertainers and refreshments, guests can wander the grounds and home and have their questions answered by docents attending to various rooms. The Heurich House, nicknamed ‘Brewmaster’s Castle’ was, for decades, owned by German brewmaster Christian Heurich and his family and is one of the last intact Victorian mansions in Washington. Kathy Breckbill, volunteer coordinator, remarked, “The DC community has been incredibly generous and this event will be a celebration of the home, of music, of German culture, and of the holidays for all to enjoy!” Editor’s Note: For more information about the Heurich House, contact Alyssa Friedland, afriedland@witeckcombs.com ### The Brewmaster’s Castle, a Washington, DC landmark on the Nation Registrar for Historic Places was built in 1892-1894 for German immigrant Christian Heurich (HI-rick), Washington’s most successful brewer, and noted philanthropist.
