From: "Karyn-Siobhan Robinson <dupont_anc_2b02@yahoo.com> Metro board to host first town hall meeting in NovemberThe Board of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) will host its first Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, November 16 at Metro headquarters, 600 Fifth St., NW, to talk to customers on a variety of issues dealing with Metrorail, Metrobus and Metroaccess such as service, funding and expansion.
"We are looking to dialogue with our customers on a range of issues that are important to them," said Metro Board Chairman Robert Smith. "While customers can contact us through email and calls, they have little or no opportunity to speak directly to the Board on issues of vital importance to them and the region's transit system. This Town Hall meeting format provides a wonderful opportunity for our customers to let us know their concerns on the topics and issues that they want to bring to our attention." Bob Levey, Senior Vice President for Development at the Washington Hospital Center and former columnist with The Washington Post, will moderate the Town Hall meeting. Mr. Levey has written extensively on Metro-related issues over the years. The public will be invited to submit questions to Metro's Board, and Mr. Levey, as the moderator, will direct the questions to Board members in an effort to facilitate discussion. Prior to the start of and during the Town Hall meeting, Metro will host an open house to allow Metro customers to view exhibits, pick up some additional information and talk to officials about a variety of topics such as the soon-to-be opened stations, future bus projects, Metroaccess, safety and security, customer service information, Metro Is Accessible, future rail expansion projects, Metro Matters and dedicated funding issues, eight-car trains and employment opportunities.
