People say that the field is not being utilized. Well, here's an opportunity to see just exactly how important the field is to the local community, and how the loss of the park would adversely affect DC residents. Not to mention that the team pays for the field and lights on a twice-weekly basis, adding much needed money to the District coffers. All are invited to check out this event, the team, and the players who are local tax-playing residents. On Saturday, August 21, the Washington Renegades RFC will host our Fall Season Kickoff Event. The event will begin with an intersquad match at Stead Field from 1 pm - 3 pm.
Come and play or just watch as the Renegades host the Renegades in a fall season classic. This season kick-off match is a great opportunity for everyone to play rugby, even if you have just started to learn the game. The scrimmage will be followed by a social outing at our home pub and sponsor, Hamburger Mary's, located at 14th and Rhode Island. The entire local community is invited as well as other sports clubs and local officials. We've invited leaders from the community, the Mayor's office, Parks and Rec, and the City Council, so this hopefully should turn into a community-wide event.
