The Joint ANC-DCCA Dupont Public Safety Meeting

Tuesday the 17th of February at 7 pm at the Metropolitan Police 3rd District Headquarters. 1620 V Street. The 3rd Tuesday of each month we meet to communicate community issues to the police and visa versa.

February Meeting Agenda

• First meeting with Lieutenant Shakir Muslim. We want to welcome Lt. Muslim to our PSA and introduce him to any issue that you think he ought to be aware of.
• First meeting of the new Community Liaison to the 3rd Police district and new Community Prosecutor. (Tentative)
• Solutions to Youth Home/Halfway House residents committing crime while assigned there.
• Discussion of recurring thefts at Best-In liquors.
• Discussion of the solving of the murder 2 months ago of the man that was found in his apartment on Mass Ave.
• Drug dealing SW of Dupont Circle.
• Pawnshop Regulations - this committee has been working on a proposal to re-write the laws and regulations governing in the past few meetings. We won't be concentrating on that this month.
• Preventable Crime Education - Lighting
• Renewal of the Citizens Advisory Council - Next meeting is Thursday February 26th at 730.

Most importantly this is a time to bring issues to your Police. Community Policing is effective if the community and the police make the effort to communicate their concerns to each other.
