Margaret Bourke-White, The Photography of Design, 1927-1936The Phillips Collection Through May 7 Margaret Bourke-White The Photography of Design, 1927-1936 examines for the first time the works produced in the first decade of this preeminent photographer’s career. "Born in New York in 1904, Margaret Bourke-White grew up fearless and ambitious. Her father, an engineer, inventor, and amateur photographer, introduced her to the world of machines and to photography. He took her to visit a foundry, at the age of eight, where she saw molten iron for the first time. She also helped him develop photographs in the bathtub of their home."
